猴子 (hóuzi) monkey

It’s the Year of the Monkey, and we’ve been a bit remiss: we have hardly made mention of monkeys this year!

The Monkey is the 9th animal in the Chinese zodiac. The cycle of animals repeats every 12 years, so you are born in a Monkey year (mostly, as the new lunar year usually starts around February,) if you were born in 2016, 2004, 1992, 1980, 1968, 1956, 1944, 1932, 1920, or 1908. If your baby was born on or after the 8th of February this year, your baby is a Monkey baby! Congratulations!

There are some fluctuations depending on what time and what day they were born, but generally, Monkeys are wise, with great intellects, skilful, and good at saving money. However, they can sometimes be quick-tempered, and they need to learn some patience in order to overcome this weakness. Time to learn a word!

聪明 (cōngming) intelligent

If you believe the horoscopes, Monkeys are well suited to such occupations as accounting, banking, science, engineering, stock market trading, air traffic control, film directing, jewellery, and sales. Are you a Monkey in one of these areas, or not in these areas? How do you feel about your job?

In love, Monkeys are supposed to be compatible with Cows and Rabbits, and don’t do well in relationships with Tigers or Pigs. Let us know what your findings are, we’d love to hear some real-life cases of Monkey relationships!
