草莓 (cǎoméi) Strawberries

Sorry we’re a bit late this week, we were having a little 休息 (something we’ll teach in a later lesson!)

We saw something interesting in the news lately, and thought we’d talk a little bit about it. We’re sure you’ve seen strawberries before, called 草莓 (cǎoméi) in Chinese, but have you seen white ones?

The fascinating fruits were introduced to China from Japan recently, where they are taking off in popularity! They can sell for up to 600 yuan (~ AU$123) per kilogram there!

很贵!(hěn guì!) very expensive!

Do you want to try them? We certainly do! But maybe we’ll have to split one …
